Front Face Configuration – Single Loop
Lab
3.1 Foreword
This lab is designed to help you learn the basics of front face configuration, as well as
demonstrate the simple steps to configure a simple single Loop PID.
Physical Addressed Referenced Device:
The 53MC5000 Process Control Station is an Address Referenced device. This means that
all data for functions, inputs, outputs, etc. are referenced by pre-assigned memory
locations. The values within these memory locations can be actual data or references to
other memory locations.
3.2 Objectives
In this lab we will design a simple flow loop with a 4-20mA signal from a DP transmitter,
a square root extractor, a PID control loop and a modulating control valve. The P&ID for
the loop looks like this:

After completing this lab, you should know how to configure a 53MC5000 database from
the front face for a simple PID Control loop. The procedure involved in configuring this
single loop strategy in the instrument is as follows:
1.
Default the controller database and wirelist so that the existing configuration,
if any, will be returned to the factory settings
2.
Configure the single loop control strategy
We will assume that the instrument is in Operational mode. Follow the instruction below
to configure the above control strategy in the instrument:
