Configuring Layer 2 Remote Port Mirroring

Layer 2 Remote Port Mirroring Configuration Task List

Configuring Layer 2 remote port mirroring is to configure remote mirroring groups. When doing that,

configure the remote source mirroring group on the source device and the cooperating remote

destination mirroring group on the destination device.

z

Generally, a port can belong to only one mirroring group. On an SD or EB series LPU, however, a

port can be assigned to two mirroring groups as a mirroring port.

z

If GVRP is enabled, GVRP may register the remote probe VLAN to unexpected ports, resulting in

undesired duplicates. For information on GVRP, see GVRP Configuration in the Layer 3 - IP

Services Configuration Guide.

First, configure the mirroring port, the remote probe VLAN, and the egress port for the remote source

mirroring group on the source device; then, configure the remote probe VLAN and the monitor port for

the remote destination mirroring group on the destination device.
