7.5 Check protective equipment
7 Commissioning
Depending on the level of use, safety devices and safety measures on
the press brake must be checked at least once a year by an appointed
expert (competent person) to ensure they are in a safe condition. The re-
sult of these tests must be entered in the inspection book or in the ma-
chine file. Any serious non-conformances must be rectified before the
press brake is returned to operation.
7.5.1.4 Prepare for function test

Proceed as follows:
 During initial commissioning the press brake is fully configured with
the upper tool (maximum weight).
 Transmitter and receiver are correctly aligned (see "Initial commis-
sioning").
 The press brake is at top dead centre.
 Transmitter and receiver are ready for operation.
 Standard protected field mode is selected.

Function test using the test rod (= test piece handle)
 Move the test rod (14 mm diameter) slowly along the whole detection
zone at the centre point of the upper tool.

Trained operators must be used for the daily check.

The annual inspection may only be carried out by qualified per-
sonnel.
