Configuring the Trap Parameters

This section contains the procedure for specifying which traps are to be
sent to the SNMP management workstations.

To set the trap parameters, perform the following procedure:

1. From the Main Menu, select System configuration.

2. From the System Confirmation Menu, select Trap parameters.

The Trap parameters menu in Figure 8 is displayed.

Figure 8 Trap Parameters Menu

The numbers following each trap relate to the list of IP addresses
of the management stations in the IP Parameters Menu shown in
Figure 7 on page 27.

The number “1” following a trap represents “Manager Address 1”
in the IP Parameters Menu; number “2” represents “Manager
Address 2,” and so forth. You use this numbering to control which
management workstations receive which traps. For example, if
you wanted only the management workstation with the IP
address specified in “Manager Address 2” to receive the Link Test
trap, you would change the Link Test item in the Trap Parameters
Menu so that it had only the number “2”. The default is for all
management workstations to receive all traps.

If you do not want a particular trap sent to any management
workstations, enter a 0 (zero) for the trap.

3. Enter or change the parameters in the window as desired.

Changes to the parameters take effect immediately on the
multiplexer.
