3. Enter or change the parameters in the window as desired. Changes to

the parameters take effect immediately on the multiplexer. The
parameters are defined below.

Parameter

Description

IP Address

Specifies an IP address for the multiplexer. The AT-
WD1008 Multiplexer does not need an IP address,
subnet mask, or default gateway address for normal
network operations. However, if you wish to use the
Telnet utility or an SNMP application program to
manage the multiplexer remotely, you must assign the
multiplexer an IP address and subnet mask. You cannot
manage the multiplexer remotely without assigning
values for these parameters.

Furthermore, if the management station is separated
from the multiplexer by a router, you must also provide
a gateway address, which is the IP address of a router
through which the multiplexer can communicate with
the remote management station. Once values have
been assigned, you can remotely manage the
multiplexer from any network management station that
has the Telnet utility.

Subnet Mask

Specifies the subnet mask for the multiplexer. This
value is required to manage the multiplexer remotely.
