SET SNMP TRAP
Syntax
set snmp trap=0|1|2|3|4|all
Parameters
trap
Specifies the trap to be transmitted to a
management workstation. The trap is specified
first. The management workstation to receive the
trap is represented by a number (1 to 4). (The
assignment of a number to a workstation’s IP
address is made with the SET IP command on
page 94.) You can specify more than one
management workstation at a time. You can
specify the workstations individually (e.g., 2,3) or
as a range (e.g., 2-4). To specify all management
workstations, use ALL. Specifying “0” means the
multiplexer will not send the trap to any
management workstation. The traps are listed in
the following table.
Trap
Description
coldstart
Transmitted whenever the multiplexer is
power cycled.
authentication
Transmitted whenever an SNMP application
program attempts to perform a Set function,
and the Set community string on an SNMP
application program is different from the
same community string on the multiplexer.
changeport
Transmitted whenever a multiplexing port
or a GBIC port establishes or loses a link with
its respective end node.
portactshut
Transmitted whenever a multiplexing port
or a GBIC port is manually activated or
deactivated.
linktest
Transmitted whenever the Link Test mode is
activated on one of the multiplexing ports.
moduleinout
Transmitted whenever a GBIC module is
inserted or removed from its slot.
rpsfailure
Transmitted whenever a power failure
occurs in the main power supply or in the
RPS module.
