NOTE:

By default, snapshots are read only. HP recommends that you do not allow writes to any

snapshots.

To manage block snapshots, select Filesystems in the upper Navigator and Block Snapshots in the
lower Navigator. The Block Snapshots panel appears. From this panel, you can view details about
existing block snapshots such as the snapshot name and type, the number of segments in the
snapshot, whether or not it is mounted, the number of times the snapshot configuration has changed,
and the time stamp when the snapshot was created.

From this panel, you can create a block snapshot (either a one-time snapshot or a scheduled,
recurring snapshot), mount or unmount a snapshot, or delete a snapshot.

If a snapshot encounters insufficient resources when an update is attempted (due to changes in the
originating file system), the snapshot fails and is marked invalid. As a result, the snapshot is no
longer accessible. To clean up records in the configuration database for an invalid snapshot, click
Cleanup.

To manage block snapshots using the CLI, see the ibrix_vs_snap command in the HP StoreAll
OS CLI Reference Guide
.
