File Extension reports
File Extension reports provides an overview of the various file extensions distributed on the file
system.
IMPORTANT: Keep in mind the following:

The File Extension report searches only by file extension, not by file type. For example, if you
save a text file with a .png extension, the text file will be listed under the other files with a
.png extension even though the file is a text file.
•
The report does not differentiate files that might share the same file extension but are of different
file types. For example, assume you have a file system with RPM Package Manager packages
or RealPlayer media files, both types have the .rpm file extension. The File Extension report
combines the number of RPM Package Manager packages and RealPlayer media files under
the count for .rpm file extensions.
•
Zero values are not displayed in bar or pie charts. Refer to the table output for complete data
entries.
