Chapter 10: Verifying the Hardware Operations of the Chassis
218
The Easy Startup application is only available when the controller
card is in its default configuration. It is automatically disabled after
you complete the application or begin to configure the parameters
from the command line. If you want to rerun the application, you
have to return the chassis to its default configuration with the
PURGE DATABASE ALL command.
The web server and simple DHCP server on the controller card are
only available with the Easy Startup application. They are
automatically disabled after you complete the application or begin
to configure the switch parameters from the command line.
To run the Easy Startup application, perform the following procedure:
1. Connect the Ethernet port on your computer to the NET MGMT port on
the active controller card with a network cable.
2. Power on your computer. If your computer is already on, power it off
and on again so that it loses its old IP address and accepts the new IP
address from the simple DHCP server on the controller card.
3. Do one of the following:
If your computer is configured to automatically obtain its IP
configuration from a DHCP server, it should automatically receive
the IP address 192.168.1.2 from the controller card, in which case
you may go to step 4.
If your computer is configured with a static IP address, you need to
change it to 192.168.1.2, with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0, or
activate the DHCP client, if it has one. Refer to the documentation
that comes with your computer of instructions on how to change
the IP address.
4. Start the web browser on your computer.
5. Enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the URL field of the browser and
press the Return key.
6. Follow the instructions on your screen to use the Easy Startup
application to configure the basic parameters of the chassis.
If you do not see the introductory web page of the Easy Startup
application, check the following:
Verify that the network cable is securely connected to the network
port on your computer and the NET MGMT port on the controller
card. (The Easy Startup application is not supported on the
Console port.)
If the chassis has two controller cards, check that your computer is
connected to the NET MGMT port on the active controller card.
You can identify the active controller card by examining the M/S
