Installing the Blank Slot Covers
After installing the AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Cards and Ethernet line
cards, check the front panel for any unused slots and cover them with the
blank slot covers included with the chassis, as explained in this procedure.
If there are no unused slots, go to Chapter 8, “Installing the Transceivers
and Cabling the Ports” on page 141.
Note
The fan module may not be able to maintain adequate airflow and
cooling across the controller and line cards if there are open slots.
To install the blank panels on the unused slots, perform the following
procedure:
1. Position a blank slot cover over an unused slot, as shown in Figure 82.
The up arrow on the panel must be pointing up.

2. Finger tighten the two thumbscrews to attach the blank panel to the
chassis, as shown in Figure 83 on page 139.
