Intelligent Chassis Management Bus (ICMB) Controller
The ICMB Controller resides on the Legacy I/O Board. It serves as a
bridge between the internal Intelligent Platform Management Bus (IPMB)
and the external Intelligent Chassis Management Bus (ICMB). The internal
IPMB transports server management information within a system, and the
external ICMB transports server management information between various
chassis in a server(s) and peripherals cluster configuration.
Hot Swap Controller (HSC)
The Hot Swap Controller (HSC) resides on the Power Distribution Board (T-
Docking). The primary functions of the HSC are as follows:
•
Implements the SAF-TE command set
•
Controls the fault lights
•
Provides a path for management information via SCSI
•
Retrieves drive fault status, Backplane temperature, and fan failure
information via IPMB
•
Queries the status of the power distribution board by retrieving information
from the BMC via the IPMB
•
Controls drive power-on and power-down, facilitating hot-swapping.
