5. The utility asks you to update the boot code and/or the operational code.

Check the firmware release notes for the release that you are trying to
update for information on what you need to update. The update might
require you to update both boot code and operational code or it might
require you to just update the operational code.

6. After the update completes successfully, the utility verifies the update by

reading back the programmed code and comparing it to the HEX file.

7. Select the File menu tab and choose Exit to close the utility.

Firmware Update Utility Command-line Options

The command-line options for the Firmware Update Utility are described below.

Table 10-18. Firmware Update Utility Command-line Options and Parameters

Option or Parameter

Description

Hex_File_Name

Specifies the firmware hex file name. If you are
upgrading the firmware in non-interactive mode, you
must supply this file name as part of the command that
invokes the utility.

/bootena

Updates the boot block in addition to updating the
operational code.

/fwversion

Displays firmware versions of the controllers in the
system.

/ignorerevs

Updates firmware of different device information block
version.

/infoblock

Displays device information block of the hex file.

/nopause

Suppresses keyboard pause at the end of transfer error.

/noverify

Causes the firmware utility to only perform a checksum
check to verify a proper update.

/secondary

Selects secondary controller (e.g. second hot swap
controller). The primary and secondary controllers are
identical. This switch indicates which one the hex file is
updating.

/showname

Shows the platform name from the device information
block in the hex file.

/upload

Uploads operational code firmware in non-interactive
mode.

/verify

Verifies firmware in non-interactive mode.

/? Or /h

Displays the command-line help.
