Highlight Modifier
The highlight modifier can be used only with the UPDATE or INQUIRE commands. It
limits the scope of the command to a subset of the objects, based on their attributes in
the DSNM object database. None of the values of the highlight modifier is the default.
If you do not specify a highlight modifier, DSNM applies the command, regardless of
their attributes in the DSNM object database.
You can specify state and highlight modifiers in the same command. After the
hierarchy modifier is applied, the command applies to the objects that satisfy both the
state and the highlight modifiers.
If you work with NetStatus, you will note that objects are highlighted on the NetStatus
screen if they are not in one of their acceptable states. Although not all the values of
the highlight modifier relate to highlighting, this is the origin of the name.
The six possible values of the highlight modifier are:
DEFINED
The command applies only to objects defined in the DSNM
object database.
UNDEFINED
The command applies only to objects defined in the DSNM
object database.
MONITORED
The command applies to objects recorded in the DSNM
object database as currently being monitored.
NOT-MONITORED
The command applies to objects recorded in the DSNM
object database as not currently being monitored.
ACCEPTABLE
The command applies to objects recorded in the DSNM
object database as currently being monitored and are in one
of their acceptable states.
UNACCEPTABLE
The command applies to objects that are recorded in the
DSNM object database as being monitored and not in one of
their acceptable states.
