NonStop NET/MASTER MS
Introduction
098571 Tandem Computers Incorporated
1–5
UP
means that the object is ready, available, or in use.
DOWN
means that the object is unavailable or that operator intervention is
required to bring it up.
PENDING
means that the object is not up or down. Many subsystems use more
than one object state to indicate that an object is not ready for use, but
that it is not totally deactivated: for example, the object is currently
stopping or starting. DSNM represents as pending any state that does
not fit the definition of up or down.
If DSNM cannot determine the subsystem state of an object, it returns one of the
following three conditions:
UNDEFINED
means that either the object is not in the DSNM object database,
or the object is not defined in the subsystem.
UNKNOWN
means that the object state is unknown, or the object did not
return a state in response to a status request.
IN ERROR
means that DSNM cannot resolve the name of the object, or that
the subsystem reports that the object is in an error state or is not
accessible.
NonStop
NET/MASTER MS
When issuing DSNM commands from the NonStop NET/MASTER MS environment,
the commands must be preceded by the keyword OPSYS.
For example, the DSNM command
START ALL-SNAX
must be issued from NonStop NET/MASTER MS as follows:
OPSYS START ALL-SNAX
DSNM commands can also be issued from the command line in NetStatus, if that
product is available at your site. The keyword OPSYS must also precede all DSNM
commands issued from the NetStatus command line when NetStatus is used with
NonStop NET/MASTER MS.
Section 7, “NonStop NET/MASTER MS Interface,” contains detailed information on
issuing DSNM commands, obtaining help, and accessing NonStop tools within
NonStop NET/MASTER MS.
See Section 2, “DSNM Commands,” for an explanation of DSNM commands and for
more information about command syntax.
Note
NonStop NET/MASTER MS has command services that allow you to omit OPSYS from the DSNM utility
access commands. See Section 7, “NonStop NET/MASTER MS Interface,” for information about DSNM
utility access commands.
