file-ID
is the name of the command file.
Considerations
A command file is often called an OBEY file.
NetCommand displays all the commands in the command file as they are executed; it
also displays any responses. Commands and responses are recorded in a log.
You must have the authority to issue each individual command contained in the
command file. NetCommand issues an error message and skips any commands in the
command file that you are not authorized to use.
Examples
If the default node, volume, and subvolume is \LONDON.$DSMS.DISPLAYS, the
following command causes NetCommand to execute the commands in the file
\LONDON.$DSMS.DISPLAYS.NETOBY:
OBEY NETOBY
The following command causes NetCommand to execute the commands in the file
\LONDON.$DISCA.TRANS.FILE:
O $DISCA.TRANS.FILE
Applications and
Utilities
You can run external utilities, applications, and other standard Tandem products from
the NetCommand prompt if your system manager has added them to your command
set.
Examples
The following command starts the Peripheral Utility Program from NetCommand:
PUP
The following command starts the File Utility Program from NetCommand:
FUP
The following command starts VIEWPOINT from NetCommand:
VIEWPT
Note
DSNM logs all commands and responses, even during the execution of an external program. However, if
the program was added to your command set as a privileged command, or if it is a full-screen application,
DSNM does not record its commands or responses in the log file.
The Tandem NonStop Kernel NOWAIT parameter cannot be used from NetCommand, unless you are
using it with a program that was added to your command set as a privileged command.
