UPDATE Command

DSNM Commands

098571 Tandem Computers Incorporated

2–39

Considerations

The UPDATE command line must include one of the following: MONITOR,
NOMONITOR, or an ACCEPT clause.

If you specify ACCEPT with no parameters, DSNM replaces the values in the
acceptable states field of the object entry with only the current state of the object. If
you specify more than one subsystem object when you issue the UPDATE command,
DSNM replaces the acceptable states for each object with that object’s current state. If
you specify ACCEPT followed by any combination of the keywords UP, DOWN, and
PENDING, DSNM replaces the current acceptable states for each object with the states
that you specify.

Examples

The following command replaces the current values of the acceptable states fields for
the SNAX PU \BERLIN.$SATM.#ATMCC with the current state of the PU. Because it
includes the ONLY modifier, it does not update the object entries for any subordinate
LUs.

UPDATE PU \BERLIN.$SATM.#ATMCC, ONLY, ACCEPT

The following command tells DSNM to stop monitoring the status of the objects that
are up among TCP1 and its subordinate terminals. TCP1 is controlled by
\LONDON.$PMUK.

UPDATE TCP1 UNDER $PMUK, UP, NOMONITOR

The following command makes UP and PENDING the acceptable states for the
members of the group ALL-EXPAND and tells DSNM to start monitoring their status:

UPDATE ALL-EXPAND, ACCEPT UP PENDING, MONITOR

The following command causes DSNM to start monitoring all members of the group
ALL-EXPAND that are not presently being monitored:

UPDATE ALL-EXPAND, NOT-MONITORED, MONITOR
