adjust the path of the TE tunnel according to the network performance, and supports advanced
features such as backup and Fast ReRoute (FRR). For the detailed configuration procedure,
refer to MPLS TE Tunnel Management

5.

Configure protection (optional).

The MPLS TE manager allows you to configure backup path and FRR protection for a network
node or link. Thus, once the node or link fails, traffic can be rerouted to the backup path for
forwarding. For the detailed configuration procedure, refer to Protection Management.

6.

Configure traffic access.

After you configure a tunnel, data can be forwarded along the tunnel only after you configure
to introduce the traffic to the tunnel. For the detailed configuration procedure, refer to Traffic
Access Management.

Typical applications

To help you understand the MPLS TE manager better, this help provides the following typical
applications, which cover the common MPLS TE networking scenarios.

Configure MPLS TE tunnel using static CR-LSP

Application Scenario

A corporation has three subsidiaries, which are located in city A, city B, and city C respectively
and are connected with one another through networks. As services expand, network congestions
occur frequently due to network load imbalance. To ensure that important services can be smoothly
transmitted along a specified path, an MPLS TE tunnel is configured on the network using a static
CR-LSP. Router A, Router B, and Router C represent the three subsidiaries respectively. Assume that
the routers are reachable to each other after being configured with IS-IS or OSPF and are properly
configured with basic MPLS and MPLS TE capabilities, as shown in the following figure:

Router A: LSR ID address is 1.1.1.1/32; address of Ethernet 1/0 is 2.1.1.1/24.

Router B: LSR ID address is 2.2.2.2/32; address of Ethernet 1/0 is 2.1.1.2/24; address of
Ethernet 1/1 address is 3.2.1.1/24.

Router C: LSR ID address is 3.3.3.3/32; address of Ethernet 1/0 is 3.2.1.2/24.

Scenario Analysis

Create an MPLS TE tunnel along Router A -> Router B -> Router C by using a static CR-LSP, so that
service traffic to be transferred along the path can use the static tunnel.
