CHAPTER 6: INSTALLING VENT, AIR INTAKES, AND
DRAIN
6.1 INSTALLING VENT AND COMBUSTION AIR INTAKE
WARNING!
The Esteem 399 Low NOx boiler must be vented and supplied with combustion air as instructed
in the Esteem boiler Vent Application Guide (GF-125V or GF-125CV), which is included in the
boiler installation envelope. Once installation is complete, inspect the vent and combustion air
system thoroughly to ensure systems are airtight and comply with the instructions given in the
venting guide and are within all requirements of applicable codes. Failure to comply with all
installation requirements can cause severe personal injury or death.
6.2 INSTALLING CONDENSATE DRAIN ASSEMBLY
Locate the condensate drain assembly and install as described below.
Installing the Condensate Drain Assembly
WARNING!
Before operating the Esteem boiler, the condensate drain
assembly MUST be filled with water at the fill plug, or else flue
gases will escape creating a dangerous situation. It is
recommended to fill the plug at this time, though it may be done
any time prior to boiler operation.
1.
Remove the retaining nut (with rubber seal) from the condensate drain assembly and slide
this nut over the heat exchanger condensate drain nipple (Fig. 6-1, left image). Confirm that
the metal washer is placed above the two rubber gaskets as shown in Figure 6-1, right
image. Place the condensate drain assembly to the nipple and slide down retaining nut and
tighten to the assembly. Hand tighten only!
