The top section of the window shows the actual data (each symbol displayed using the
selected display format). The bottom section of the window shows the definition of the
frame format. This allows the user to modify the frame by directly entering information
into fields of the frame in the bottom section, using either pull‐down menus (provided
where appropriate) or directly typing in the desired value where appropriate.
When the information in a frame is changed, the CRC which has been calculated is no
longer correct. This condition is indicated by the background color changing to red. If
desired, the CRC can be recalculated to the correct value by right‐clicking on the CRC
value and selecting the Update with the valid value command which appears. The actual
data which is changed is highlighted for a short time in the upper portion of the window.
Additional primitives and frames can be added to create a more complex series of
commands, all of which are reduced to the appropriate bit pattern which is displayed in
the upper portion of the window.
