Using journal groups
To introduce Continuous Access XP Journal in your system and configure your system for remote copy
operations, the primary and secondary site administrators must configure journal groups, ports, and
logical paths. Also, these administrators must register journal volumes in journal groups. During
Continuous Access XP Journal remote copy operations, data in primary volumes is copied via journal
volumes to secondary volumes.
When configuring journal groups, administrators must do the following:
•
Displaying the Journal Operation pane
•
Registering journal volumes in journal groups
When configuring journal groups, the administrator should do the following when necessary:
•
Deleting journal volumes from journal groups
•
Displaying detailed information about journal groups
•
Changing options for journal groups
•
When using Continuous Access XP Journal for remote copy operations, the administrator should do the
following when necessary:
•
Splitting mirrors (Pairsplit-r: suspending copy operations)
•
Restoring mirrors (Pairresync: resuming copy operations)
•
Deleting data volumes from mirrors (Pairsplit-S: ending copy operations)

Throughout this chapter, the primary and secondary arrays are sometimes referred to as local
arrays and remote arrays. If you are logged into the primary array and are using Continuous Access XP
