Checking device file and LDEV numbers of P-VOLs

You can also check the device file and LDEV numbers for unused device files that can be S-VOLs by

issuing the

horc_devlist

command in the NAS package in which the S-VOL is used. Compare this

with

Table 31

lists port names described in the

HORCM_DEV

section in the RAID Manager XP configuration

definition file and the locations of the NAS packages.

After checking the RAID Manager XP configuration definition file, stop RAID Manager XP in both the NAS

package in which the Continuous Access XP Journal P-VOL is connected and in the NAS package in which

the S-VOL is used (see

Figure 83

).

Stopping RAID Manager XP (for instance number 16)

Manually save the NAS OS LU to save the configured RAID Manager XP configuration definition files. For

instructions, see the NAS Blade Manager User’s Guide.

Cascade configuration of Continuous Access XP Journal and Business Copy XP

In the NAS Blade system, you can use the Continuous Access XP Journal and Business Copy XP pair file

systems in a cascade configuration. In a cascade configuration, you can prepare for disaster scenarios

where, for example, you cannot recover the file system from the Continuous Access XP Journal S-VOL by

backing up the file system copied from the Continuous Access XP Journal P-VOL to S-VOL periodically using

Business Copy XP.
