To configure syslog servers so that the audit log will be transferred to the syslog servers:
1.
Use LAN to connect the syslog servers to the array's SVP.
2.
Log on to the SVP to open the XP Remote Web Console main pane.
3.
Change to Modify mode.
4.
Click the Syslog tab to open the Syslog pane.
5.
Set the primary syslog server according to the following procedure: a) Click Enable for Output to
Primary Server. b) Enter the IP address and the port number for the Primary Server Setting.
6.
When you want to use the secondary syslog server, set the secondary syslog server according to
the following procedure. If you do not use the secondary syslog server, go to the step 7. a) Click
Enable for Output to Secondary Server. b) Enter the IP address and the port number for Secondary
Server Setting.
7.
Enter a name for the array in the Location Identification Name field.
8.
When you want to transfer the detailed information of the audit log to the syslog server, click Enable
for Output Detailed Information. If you do not, click Disable.
9.
Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.
10.
Click OK to apply the settings, or click Cancel to cancel.
IMPORTANT:
If you need to reconfigure the settings in the Syslog pane (for example, when replacing the SVP), make
sure to document the IP address, port number, and location identification name currently specified in
the Syslog pane.
To download the syslog information file from the SVP to the XP Remote Web Console computer:
1.
Log on to the SVP to open the XP Remote Web Console main pane.
2.
Click the Syslog tab to open the Syslog pane.
3.
Click Download (on the Syslog pane). The pane to specify the destination for saving the syslog
information file is displayed.
4.
Specify the destination to save the syslog information file and the file name, and click Save.
Transferring Audit Log to FTP Server (Audit Log panel)
You can use the Audit Log panel of to configure FTP servers to transfer the audit log information file. You
can also transfer the audit log information file to the FTP servers manually using the Audit Log panel.
Only the storage administrator can configure FTP servers for transferring the audit log information file or
transfer the audit log information file manually to the FTP servers. Also, Audit Log Administrator Role
needs to be set to Modify for the user account of that storage administrator. If Audit Log Administrator
Role is set to View, the storage administrator can view the Audit Log panel, but not change the setting of
the Audit Log panel or transfer the audit log information file manually to the FTP servers.
