Table 55 Troubleshooting problems with status of logical paths
Pair status
Description
Corrective action
Initialization Failed
Link initialization procedure
for the remote array failed.
Ensure that the local and remote arrays are
connected correctly via cables.
Ensure that you entered the correct serial
number (S/N) of the remote array and
the correct path parameters (for example,
local array port, remote array port, and
controller ID).
Ensure that the topology settings of the
local and remote array ports are correct.
Communication Time Out
Communication between the
local and remote arrays timed
out.
Ensure that the remote array is powered on,
and NVS and cache are fully functional.
Ensure that the network relay devices
(cables, connectors, switches, ESCDs,
extender devices, communication lines,
and all other devices connected to the
extenders) are properly configured and
functional.
Delete the failed path. You might need to
change the minimum paths setting or delete
the remote array to delete the path. After
deletion finishes, add the path or remote
array.
Resource Shortage (Port)
or
Resource Shortage (Pair-Port)
Array rejected the request
for establishing a logical
path because all resources in
the local and remote arrays
are being used for other
connections.
Delete the failed path and all paths and
remote arrays not currently in use. The local
array can be connected to up to 64 remote
arrays with up to eight paths to each remote
array.
Ensure that all ports on the local and remote
arrays are properly configured: ordinary
target ports or RCU target ports for hosts,
RCU target ports for remote arrays, initiator
ports for local arrays.
If necessary, connect to the remote array
to delete paths or remote arrays and
reconfigure ports, and reconnect to the
local array. After that, add the path and
remote array again.
Serial Number Mismatch
Remote array's serial number
(S/N) does not match the
specified serial number (S/N).
Ensure that you entered the correct remote
array S/N and path parameters (for
example, local array port, remote array
port, and controller ID). After that, delete
the failed path. You might need to change
the minimum paths setting or delete the
remote array to delete the path. After
deletion finishes, add the path and the
remote array.
Ensure that you entered the correct controller
ID. Ensure that the topology settings of the
local and remote array ports are correct.
