Basic Switch Management

Switch Enable/Disable Procedures

The following sections describe how to disable and enable a switch.

Disabling a Switch

To disable a switch:

1. Log into the switch as the admin user.

2. Enter the

switchdisable

command at the command line. All Fibre

Channel ports on the switch are taken offline. If the switch was part of a
fabric, the fabric reconfigures.

Example:

Enabling a Switch

To enable a switch:

1. Log into the switch as the admin user.

2. Enter the

switchenable

command at the command line.

All Fibre Channel ports that passed the POST test are enabled. If the switch was
part of a fabric, it rejoins the fabric.

Example:

switch:admin> switchdisable

switch:admin> switchenable
