Hardware Diagnostics

For detailed hardware information, refer to the switch installation guide supplied
with your specific switch (the installation guide is also available on the v3.1.x or
v4.1.x Software CD.

Monitoring the Fan Status

To display the fan status of a switch:

1. Log into the switch as the admin user.

2. Enter the

fanshow

command at the command line. The possible values for

fan status are:

OK -

Fan is functioning correctly.

absent -

Fan is not present.

below minimum -

Fan is present but rotating too slowly or stopped.

The following example is the command output from a Core Switch 2/64.

Example

The following example is the command output from a SAN Switch 2/32.

Example:

switch:admin> fanshow

Fan #1 is OK, speed is 2616 RPM

Fan #2 is OK, speed is 2596 RPM

Fan #3 is OK, speed is 2596 RPM

switch:admin>

switch:admin> fanshow

Fan #1 is OK, speed is 7500 RPM

Fan #2 is OK, speed is 7560 RPM

Fan #3 is OK, speed is 7560 RPM

Fan #4 is OK, speed is 7590 RPM

Fan #5 is OK, speed is 7440 RPM
