supportShow

command to capture debug information about the switch. Then forward the

supportShow

data to the switch supplier for further investigation.

I2C bus Errors

The following sections cover troubleshooting i2C bus errors.

Possible Causes

i2C bus errors indicate defective hardware, and the specific item is listed in the
error message. Refer to the HP StorageWorks Diagnostic and System Error
Message Version 3.1.x/4.1.x Reference Guide
for information specific to the error
that was received. Specifically, some CPT and Environmental Monitor (EM)
messages contain i2C-related information.

Troubleshooting the Hardware

If the i2C message does not indicate the specific hardware that may be failing,
begin debugging the hardware, as this is the most likely cause.

Check Fan Components

1. Log into the switch as User.

2. Enter

fanshow

at the command line.

3. Check the Fan status and speed output.

If any of the fan speeds display abnormal RPMs, replace the fan FRU.

Check the Switch Temperature

1. Log into the switch as User.

2. Enter

tempshow

at the command line.

3. Check the temperature output.

Look for indications of high or low temperatures.

Check the Power Supply

1. Log into the switch as User.

2. Enter the

psshow

command at the command line.
