Generating Voice Traffic with the FrameScope Pro
VoIP Traffic Overview
The VoIP Traffic Generator can generate from one up to 100
valid RTP streams. These RTP streams have the same source
and destination IP addresses but different source and
destination ports. Each RTP stream contains a valid RTP header
and dummy payload data.
The following codec types are supported by the VoIP Traffic
Generator.
•
G.711 A-Law
•
G.711 μ-Law
•
G.729A
The test duration, QoS, and Type of Service (ToS) can be
configured.
The VoIP Traffic Generator feature is controlled by license
Option N2620A-03G. Refer to
page 163 for information on activating this feature.
Dependencies and Assumptions
The generated RTP stream (packets) may have to go through a
number of firewalls, proxies, switches, and routers to reach the
destination network. These network components should allow
the application-generated RTP packets to reach the destination
based on the following data.
•
The user-defined destination IP address
•
The user-defined destination start UDP port
•
The source IP address (FrameScope Pro test port address)
•
The source UDP port, starting with 50000 and incrementing
by two for each subsequent stream
•
RTP version: 2
