6) This should leave the extracted folder on your desktop (or
wherever you directed it to place the files.
Once the installer is decompressed, you can start the installation of the
software. If you have a previous version of the Mp3-50, Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-
50/40 software on your compute, first unplug any Mp3-50, Mp3-50/8 or
Mp3-50/40 players from your computer, run the ‘uninstaller’ to get rid of old
files, and reboot.
Double click on the ‘setup.exe’ program in the ‘Gilder Mp3 Installer’ fold-
er. This will install the programs:
1) ‘c:/Program Files/SigmaTel/STMp3400/StMp3Format.exe’
2) ‘c:/Program Files/SigmaTel/STMp3400/StMp3Update.exe’
A shortcut to these can be found under the ‘Start’ button under ‘Pro-
grams/SigmaTel StMp3400 Mp3 Player’.
The Mp3-50, Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40 Configurator program, ‘Mp3
Config.exe’, is shipped separately from the Mp3 drivers. You will need to
move this to somewhere you can find it again. Usually, this is in the same
folder as the other Mp3 programs: ‘c:/Program Files/SigmaTel/STMp3400/’.
You will want to add a shortcut to this on your desktop and/or ‘start’ menu.
Do this by ‘left clicking’ in the Mp3 Config.exe and dragging and dropping it
on the desktop or ‘start’ menu. When you release the left mouse button,
Windows will ask you what you want to do there. Tell it to make a ‘shortcut’.
