If the MIDI signal drops out, the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40
will return to normal operations after a delay of ten sec-
onds.
MIDI Notes Trigger Animation Playback: MIDI has two dif-
ferent modes of operation on the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-
50/40:
1) The first, selected if this checkbox is NOT
checked, is used if you want to use the Mp3-
50/8 or Mp3-50/40 as an output device wholly
controlled by the MIDI coming in. Once a valid

DMX/MIDI/Serial LED will light and stay lit until ten
seconds after the MIDI has gone away. Starting
with the first MIDI note set by the ‘Animation First
Note Number:
a) The first eight (for a Mp3-50/8) or forty
(Mp3-50/40) MIDI notes are sent to the
Show Control Outputs.
b) The next eight notes are sent to the ‘MPU
Control’ Channel. These can be used to
start and stop Mp3 audio playback, and
ramp the audio output between normal,
muted and half muted levels.
c) The remaining notes are used to select
AudioFiles on the Mp3 Player directly.
The first of these notes selects the first
Mp3 AudioFile, and so on. If RealTime
Audio Level Controls have been en-
abled, the ‘Note On’ velocity is used to
set the audio playback level. The MIDI
‘Note On‘ velocity of 1 through 127
translates to volume levels from 0%
through 100%.
d) Notes after the last AudioFile are ig-
nored.
2) The second mode, selected when this check-
box has been checked, uses MIDI to trigger pre-
programmed animated shows stored in the
Show Control Flash memory. The shows are pro-
grammed normally, using PC•MACs, and
downloaded to the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40
