Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40 Hardware Configuration
Just about all of the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40 configuration is done
using the ‘Mp3 Configurator’ program or during the AutoDownload of the
shows from PC•MACs. The only two hardware configuration options are:
a) Internal/External Power: This switch (located on the bottom of
the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40) is used to switch the power from the
1/4 J6 connector between an internal source, and an external
source that must be fed from outside the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-
50/40. For a Mp3-50, this is the trigger input to the Mp3 Player,
and either position can be used as determined by your applica-
tion. For the Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40, this is also the first or last
Show Control output channel. Only the ‘Internal’ position should
be used.
b) RS-422/Optoisolated: This switch (located on the bottom of the
Mp3-50/8 or Mp3-50/40) is used to switch the DMX-512/MIDI seri-
al port between using RS-422 input signal levels to an optoisolat-
ed current loop. If receiving DMX-512, you must use the ‘RS-422’
setting. For MIDI, you must use the ‘optoisolated’ position. For Net
Serial or IR Trigger modes, you can use either position, but ‘RS-
422’ is normally used unless you need to optically isolate the
input.
