e) Mp3-50/8 with DMX-512 w/Overlapping Channels: This configu-
ration goes back to the typical installation (‘b’ above) and adds
one or more channels of DMX-512 output. If you are using Serial
RealTime Update mode during programming, this is the only con-
figuration which will allow you to access ALL of the Show control
and DMX-512 channels through the serial port.
The DMX-512 transmission always starts with the first channel
stored in the Flash memory, and transmits the first sixteen consec-
utive channels. The two channels of Show Control (one for the
digital outputs and one for the MPU control) are sent out through
the first two channels of DMX-512 (you probably don’t want to put
a dimmer on these channels). This leaves somewhere between
one and fourteen channels of DMX-512 output for lighting, mov-
ing lights, or whatever.
Depending on the number of DMX channels you need, this
configuration gives a capacity of between 97 and 18 minutes in
the onboard Flash memory.
Starting with a blank site file, you can create all the channels
you need by:
1) Open PC•MACs, Create a 'New' show. Go to 'Channels
Pulldown'/'Create Multiple Channels....'.
2) Select sixteen digital and zero analog channels. The first
eight outputs (on channel ‘0’) will go to the Show Control
Outputs. The last eight outputs (on channel ‘1’) will be used
for triggering the Mp3 Player.
3) Click ‘OK’ to create these channels.
4) Go to PC•MACs 'Channels Pulldown'/'Create Multiple Chan-
nels....'.
5) Select zero digital and between one and fourteen, 8 bit
analog channels. These will be your DMX-512 channels
starting at address ‘2’ and going to a maximum of ‘15’.
6) Click ‘OK’ to create these channels.
When you have finished programming your show you will
AutoDownload it to the Mp3-50/8. Set the ‘First Channel’ to ‘0’
and the ‘Last Channel’ to between ‘2’ and ‘15’ on the PC•MACs
File Pulldown/Save as AutoDownload.... window.
In the Mp3 Configurator Program:
1) Track Setup Tab: Point it at your SmartMedia card and set as
