PC•MACs Shows for Mp3-50/40
This section gives some hints for setting up the shows that will be used
by the Show Control side of a Mp3-50/40. There are literally thousands of
possible configuration arrangements. Most applications will use one of the
following configurations. The most common configuration is the ‘b’ option.
The ‘Show Capacities’ shown is at 30 frames (updates) per second.

Mp3-50/40 Show Configurations: The Mp3-50/40 has forty Show Con-
trol outputs on five eight bit wide channel. Additional channels you may
choose to use are the MPU Trigger channel (so you don’t have to loose any
digital outputs for triggering the Mp3 Player), RealTime Audio Level Control
Channels, and DMX-512 output channels.
The forty Show Control outputs are normally used for digital outputs on
the Mp3-50/40. Using an external Digital to Analog converter (DAC-08 or
DAC-Quad), one or more of the analog channels can be used for analog
functions. In the following descriptions, you are creating forty digital outputs
for use on the forty digital Show Control outputs. The digitals can be com-
bined with analog functions in any of the following combinations:
1 analog and 32 digitals
2 analogs and 24 digitals
3 analogs and 16 digitals
4 analogs and 8 digitals
5 analogs and 0 digitals
a) Mp3-50/40 with One Combined Show Control/Mp3 Control
Channel: At a minimum, all you would need to program is five
eight bit wide Show Control output channels. This would mean
that you would have to give up some number of your last chan-
nel’s digital outputs to use for triggering the Mp3 Player. The Mp3
Player is configured for triggering AudioFile starts on the normal
1/4 J6 inputs.
This configuration gives you a show capacity of approximately
one hour in the onboard Flash memory.
