Description
This command sets the maximum number of ingress packets the switch
ports accept each second. Packets exceeding the threshold are
discarded. You can enable the rate limiting threshold independently for
unicast, multicast, and broadcast packets. However, the same threshold
applies to all packet types.
The RATELIMIT parameter sets the packet limit. This limit applies to all
the ports. There can be only one packet limit value for the switch.
Additionally, the same packet limit applies to the three types of packets
that you can filter on.
The BCLIMIT, MCLIMIT, and UCLIMIT parameters are used to toggle on
and off the different filters. A filter applies to all switch ports.
As an example., assume that you set a rate limit of 5,000 packets and you
enable multicast and broadcast rate limiting. Each switch port will accept
up to 5,000 multicast packets and 5,000 broadcast packets each second.
If a port receives more than that of either type, it discards the extra
packets. Because the feature was not activated for unicast packets, the
ports do not restrict their number.
