23.11 Troubleshooting large scale deployment problems

The following table provides the actions to correct a large scale deployment failure.

Corrective Actions

Cause/Symptom

Perform the appropriate action:

Examine the log in Operation Details section of the
Task Results window for errors or other information.

For example when the image is being transferred
during the Wait For Imaging To Complete
operation, the exact command used to download the
image is shown along with progress information.

Perform the steps to correct that specific problem.

Ensure that your network groups were created
correctly. Verify them with the following command:

/opt/hptc/bin/netgroup --leaders 1

The output will appear on the screen in the following
format:

group_name

= list of systems

The first managed system listed in each group is the
group leader.

Examine the environment variables that begin with
LSD_

in the /opt/mx/icle/icle.properties file.

Determine which of these variables are being used and
if their values are appropriate.

23.12 Troubleshooting licensing problems

The following table describes possible causes of problems that might be encountered with
licensing a managed system and provides actions to correct them.

Corrective actions

Cause/Symptom

Use the HP SIM Deploy

License Manager tool to assign

Insight Control for Linux licenses to the target system.

Target Node Shows “Not Licensed” In Tool Wizard

Specific Insight Control for Linux tools require that an
Insight Control for Linux license be assigned to the target
managed system.

This is the default behavior. There is no corrective action.

Licensing Page Is Always Displayed When Running a
Tool

The default behavior of the deployment tools is to display
the License Target System Window.

Use the HP SIM Deploy

License Manager tool to assign

Insight Control for Linux licenses to the target system.

Target Node Is Not Licensed For This Tool

The tool requires that an Insight Control for Linux license
be assigned to the target system.

Follow the procedure in

“Restoring Operation After a

Firmware Upgrade” (page 209)

License problems after DL1xx series firmware update

After a DL1xx series server firmware update, SIM might
