NOTE:

You can find which servers are management hubs by examining the

icelx_Management_Hubs

subcollection.

You can also use the following command, but be aware that it returns internal names:

# shownode roles --role management_hub

Log in to the console with the console command. You can specify either the internal name
or the host name. This example uses the internal name icelx16 instead of the host name
mercury:

$ console icelx16
Locating server for icelx16
Server for icelx16 is mercury.example.com
Press q to exit

IMPORTANT:

The console command may not be able to connect to the system console

if the dates on the management hubs are not synchronized.

Press the Enter key to obtain a prompt:

icelx version as of date
icelx16 login:

Enter the user name and password for that system's console:

icelx16 login: your_username
passwd: your_password

Enter the escape character returned by the console command in

to end the connection.

NOTE:

To exit the console command, press ESC-Shift-Q.

The output of the console command is logged in the
/hptc_cluster/adm/logs/cmf.dated/date/console-name.log

file, where date

indicates the date the command ran, and console-name indicates the console.

18.4 Serial connections on DL100 series servers

Use the serial over LAN option of the ipmitool command as indicated in the following procedure
for a serial console connection to DL100 Series servers. Your input is sent to the serial console
on the remote server.

1.

Enter the ipmitool command:

# ipmitool -H host-name-cp -I lanplus -U username -P passwd sol activate

Where

host-name

-cp

Designates the console port of the host.

lanplus

Specifies the lanplus interface. For more information, see ipmitool(1).

username

Indicates the name of the user account.

passwd

Indicates the password for the user account.

When prompted for additional kernel options, enter the following:

console=ttyS0
