Tel Mode
1. The machine rings continuously until you answer the call. Pick up the handset.
2. Either:

If you hear a voice on the other end, speak in reply.
❐
If you hear a tone every few seconds, the other end is a fax terminal (also,
if you don’t hear anything, the other end may be an older machine that
doesn’t send identification signals). Press the Start key to receive the fax
message.
3. If the person at the other end wishes to send you a fax message, remove any
documents, that are in the feeder. Press the Start key to receive the
message. Then replace the handset. The machine will start to receive the
messages.
When You Connect the Telephone Answering Machine
If the caller is another fax machine:
If the caller is a telephone caller:
1. The phone rings until the Auto Ring Count is reached.
2. If you do not pick up the phone before the Auto Ring Count is reached, the
answering machine takes the call (it starts recording).
3. If the fax machine hears a fax machine identification signal from the other
end, it switches to fax mode automatically for this call. It immediately takes
the line over from the answering machine and receives the fax message.
