Serial Engine Installation

Check that
VTR Control 1
and
IP 192.168.0.15
appear on the front control
panel, which indicates the Serial Engine is now set to default values.

Eject the second floppy disk and store both disks in a safe place.
Change Serial Engine Name and IP Address Settings
Note
If your Kalypso system is using default IP addresses, you can use the default
Serial Engine settings set above. Proceed to
. If your Kalypso system uses different IP addresses,
follow the procedure below.
1.
Power down the Serial Engine by disconnecting its power cable.
CAUTION The Serial Engine must not be powered when connecting cables behind the
front panel.
2.
Remove the front panel.
3.
Connect a VGA monitor, PC keyboard, and three button mouse to the
front connectors.
4.
Power up the Serial Engine by connecting its power cable.
5.
Left click on
HardDisc4
at the lower left corner of the screen to open a
hard disk window.
6.
Hold down
Shift
, then left double click on the
!Internet
folder on the
scrolling list in the hard disk window to open that folder.
7.
Hold down
Shift
, then left double click on the
!Configure
file. This opens
a text file for internet configuration. Maximize the window by clicking
on the square button at top right corner of the window.
8.
Scroll to
Set Inet$HostName
at the top of the list and enter the host name
for the Serial Engine. This is an arbitrary name that appears on the front
panel of the serial engine. The default line should read:
Set Inet$HostName "VTR CONTROL 1"

The quotation marks are required for all values in this text file.
