2.5 Installing the Blade Accessories
The following additional components are available for the blade:
 Very Low Profile Mini Dual Inline Memory Module (VLP Mini-DIMM)
 MO297 SSD Module
 DSP-DIMM module
They are described in detail in the following sections. For order numbers, refer to section
Ordering Information on page 38 .
2.5.1 Mini-DIMM Memory Modules
The blade provides up to 4 memory slots for main memory Mini-DIMM modules. You may
install and/or remove Mini-DIMM memory modules in order to match the main memory size to
your needs. The corresponding installation/removal procedures are described in this section.
The location of the Mini-DIMM Memory Modules are shown in Figure "ATCA-8330 Blade
Layout" on page 45 .
When installing Mini-DIMM memory modules, the Mini-DIMM sockets farthest away on each
memory channel from the CPU device need to be populated first. Only qualified DDR3 Mini-
DIMMs are allowed. The reason is the thermal limit/budget of the blade and the high variation
of the power consumptions of different Mini-DIMM types. For thermal reasons, no 4-rank Mini-
DIMMs and no dual-Die Mini-DIMM are allowed.
ATCA-8330 supports low-voltage Mini-DDR3 memory. This is available upon request.
