The Xeon CPU provides an integrated 4-channel DDR3 Memory Controller (IMC).
5.3
Memory
The Xeon CPU features an integrated DDR3 memory controller. The memory controller
provides four independent memory channels that allow flexible memory configurations.
ATCA-8330 provides one DIMM slot per memory channel and thus a 1DPC (DIMM per channel
configuration).
ATCA-8330 supports following DDR3 memory DIMMs:
DDR3 RDIMM/UDIMM (registered and unregistered) with ECC support
Very Low Profile Mini-DIMM
Max 2 ranks per DIMM
4, 8 GByte capacity
Standard Voltage (1.5V) and LVDDR3 (1.35V)
Speed up to DDR3-1866 (PC3-14900) for standard voltage DDR3 modules
Speed up to DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) for low voltage LVDDR3 modules
ATCA-8330 supports Low voltage LVDDR3 Memory, which can work at Standard Voltage 1.5
and reduced Voltage of 1.35 V. LVDDR3 can be used to reduce power consumption and
improve the thermal performance of the blade.
When mixing DIMMs of different speed selections, BIOS sets the lowest speed for all memory
channels/DIMM slots on a per CPU level.
Mixing of Standard Voltage and LVDDR3 is possible and results in all DIMMs running at
Standard Voltage.
