The System Background Debug Interface (SBDI) is used for low-level debugging. The SBDI uses
standard SPI signalling (chip selects, clock, data output & input) with two extra maintenance
access control signals to inhibit the internal boot process. However, not used by application
software. Usage of the SBDI interface is strongly recommended for low-level software and
hardware debugging. The SBDI provides direct raw access to the device's internal registers and
internal and external memory. Octasic provides software support to use this interface.

5.4.9

JTAG Interface

JTAG interface is used to perform boundary scan testing. It is an IEEE 1149.1-compliant
interface with 3.3V signaling. The DSP devices are chained and accessible via the module
connector from the carrier board.

Because of the number of devices, buffering, and serial termination is required.

5.4.10 Cooling

Each DSP-DIMM shall provide a mounting holes for a heatsink determined by a thermal
simulation.

5.5

Platform Controller Hub (PCH)

The Next Generation Communications Platform Controller hub (codename Cavecreek) Intel
DH8900CC PCH provides access between processors and the I/O subsystem. The PCH provides
two different complexes:

PCH I/O-controller connected to DMI2 interface of CPU#0
- provides the standard I/O interfaces

PCH PCIe endpoint device connected to x164 PCIe (Gen2) of CPU#0
- Provides 4 MAC devices
- Provides Intel Quick Assist Technology
