11.5 Maintenance Entity Groups
Maintenance Entity Groups (MEGs) are specific to Y.1731 SOAM procedures. A MEG consists of
the maintenance entities that belong to the same service inside a common SOAM domain. Up to
250 MEGs can be configured in a 9145E NID.
11.5.1 Display Maintenance Entity Groups
To display a list of existing Maintenance Entity Groups, on the SOAM Configuration screen (Fig-
ure 11-6), type 4 and press

11.5.2 Create a Maintenance Entity Group
1. On the Maintenance Entity Group List screen (Figure 11-15), type A and press
The Create a New Maintenance Entity Group screen (Figure 11-16) opens. The first field,
MEG ID, is highlighted.
2. Type a MEG ID and press
3. In the Level field, type a number between 0 and 7. Higher numbers correspond to higher
Maintenance Domains, that is, those with the greatest physical reach, with the highest
values for customers' CFM packets. Lower numbers correspond to lower Maintenance
Domains, those with more limited physical reach, with the lowest values for CFM PDUs
protecting single bridges or physical links. Press
