Tune Your Machine
Chapter 10
10-28
By setting this clamp position as stated, you guard against the possibility of
damaging your clamp mechanism that could result from changing
clamp-open velocity, pressure, or position setpoints.
Important: Re-adjust this value each time you install a new mold.
Zone Overrun for CPC61 and OPC61
The following summarizes the choices of control action when the QDC
module detects that the clamp passed these positions:
start open slow position (OPC61)
start LPC position (CPC61)

Ejector Position for Clamp Close Enable (EPC63)
The QDC module uses this position as protection against starting (or
continuing) any clamp close profile when the ejector is not safely retracted.
This includes possible extension of ejectors after full retraction due to:
bi-directional proportional flow valves which cannot be centered
delays in the shifting directional solenoid valves
The QDC module requires this parameter to guard against starting a close
operation by operator error or faulty logic when the ejector is advanced.
In chapter 8, you determined the maximum safe ejector position for EPC63
by jogging the ejectors against a fully closed mold.
Important: If you change ejector tooling or the mold on your machine,
repeat the procedure in chapter 8 and recalculate this value to guard against
damaging ejectors when closing the mold.
Clamp Position for Ejector Inhibit (EPC62)
The QDC module uses this clamp position as protection against starting (or
continuing) any ejector profile when the clamp opening is not adequate for
full ejector action. Nominally, this clamp position is equal to the sum of:
mold safe position + ejector full stroke length
(CPC62) + (EPC59-EPC60)
