Understanding EEPROM Functions
And how they relate to Main Control and Adapter Board Replacement
For detailed programming information, refer to the Bulletin 1300
Programming Terminal User Manual, publication 1300-5.5.
Initialize
The Initialize function sets all parameters and links to default values. It
also identifies what adapter boards are installed and allows them to be
programmed.
When to Use
• On first startup to ensure that the Main Control Board recognizes the
Adapter Boards installed in the drive.
• Anytime a replacement Main Control Board is installed in the drive.
• Anytime a replacement Adapter Board with different firmware is
installed in the drive.
• Anytime an existing drive with only one Adapter Board installed is
modified by installing a “Field Installable Adapter Board Kit” in the
empty slot.
The Main Control Board needs to identify the added Adapter Board
and allow it to be programmed. Make sure that the existing parameter
and link data has been saved on your laptop computer using ITS, Drive
Manager 32, or Drive Executive software. You can then “Convert” the
existing file to a new file that includes the added Adapter Board.
Finally, you can download the “Converted File” to the drive and “Save
Change” to EEPROM.
Restore Old
The Restore Old function places the data currently in EEPROM into
RAM memory (The drive operates using RAM memory data.)
When to Use
• After programming and testing new parameters in RAM memory (but
NOT saving), it is desired to return RAM memory to the values stored
in EEPROM.
Save Change
The Save Change function saves all the data in RAM memory to
EEPROM memory.
When to Use
• Anytime the User is satisfied with the values programmed into RAM
memory and wants these values saved to EEPROM memory.
• Anytime Parameter and Link data is downloaded to the drive from ITS,
Drive Manager 32 or Drive Executive software.
