If you have several disk drives connected to your Macintosh, you may want to
specify one drive to be used for PhotoFlash virtual memory. The disk with the
greatest amount of free space would be a good choice.
The virtual memory settings appear in the upper-left corner of the
Preferences dialog box.
When it uses virtual memory, PhotoFlash
m Lists all nonremovable drives, such as hard disk drives, and defines their
default setting as on.
m Lists all removable drives and defines their default setting as off.
m Doesn’t list other storage volumes, such as servers or CD-ROM drives,
because they can’t be used for virtual memory.
m Uses the fastest hard disk drive before using any other drives for virtual
memory. Then it uses the next fastest, and so on.
m Uses the minimum amount of hard disk space it needs to run efficiently if
hard disk space is limited. If you have more disk space available,
PhotoFlash uses it to speed up its performance.
PhotoFlash uses hard disk space for virtual memory only temporarily. After
you quit the program, the extra space on your hard disk is available again for
your use.
