Quality options
The Quality pop-up menu is available only if you’ve selected 24-bit PICT-
JPEG in the Preview pop-up menu.
You use the Quality pop-up menu to define the quality level of the JPEG
compression PhotoFlash applies to the Preview image saved with the EPS file.
You have three options: High, Medium, and Low. In most cases, the default
Medium setting is more than adequate for the Preview image.
Format options
You use the Format pop-up menu to specify the encoding PhotoFlash uses
when converting an image file to the EPS file format.
The Format pop-up menu includes three options:
m
Binary.
Use this option if you intend to use the image file only with
Macintosh computers. Binary is the most common type of EPS encoding,
and it is the default setting.
m
ASCII 85.
Use this option if your printer isn’t connected to your computer by
using an 8-bit channel such as LocalTalk or EtherTalk. The ASCII 85
encoding requires PostScript Level 2 devices. This setting increases the
size of the file by about 25 percent.
m
ASCII Hex.
Use this option if you intend to use the image file with a
computer other than your Macintosh and your printer uses PostScript
Level 1. This setting doubles the size of the file.
IMPORTANT
An ASCII Hex file is about twice the size of an ASCII 85 file.
Use ASCII Hex only if it is absolutely required for using the EPS file with a
computer other than your Macintosh and you need to use PostScript Level 1.
