NOTE:
Because some configuration parameters require a reboot to take effect, after you download a
configuration file you must reboot to be sure that the parameters are enabled. Before the reboot, this type
of parameter is listed in the configuration file, but it is not effective until after the reboot.
Downloading configurations across a fabric
To save time when configuring fabric parameters and software features, you can save a configuration file
from one switch and download it to other switches of the same model type, as described in the following
procedure. Avoid downloading configuration files to different model switches, because that can cause
the switches to fail.
1.
Configure one switch first.
2.
Use the
configupload
command to save the configuration information. See ”

Use the
configdownload
command to download the configuration to each of the remaining
switches. See ”
Protocol (scp
or ftp)
If your site requires the use of Secure Copy, specify
scp
. Otherwise, specify
ftp
.
Server Name
or IP Address
Enter the name or IP address of the server where the file is stored; for
example,
192.1.2.3
. You can enter a server name if DNS is enabled.
User name
Enter the user name of your account on the server; for example,
JohnDoe
.
File name
Specify the full path name of the backup file; for example,
/pub/configurations/config.txt
.
Password
Enter your account password for the server.
switch:admin> configdownload
Protocol (scp or ftp) [ftp]: ftp
Server Name or IP Address [host]: 192.1.2.3
User Name [user]: JohnDoe
File Name [config.txt]: /pub/configurations/config.txt
Password: xxxxx
*** CAUTION ***
This command is used to download a backed-up configuration
for a specific switch. If using a file from a different
switch, this file's configuration settings will override
any current switch settings. Downloading a configuration
file, which was uploaded from a different type of switch,
may cause this switch to fail.
