Domain information—VSM tab
The VSM tab displays the VSM servers that comprise the selected domain.
Table 9 Domain VSM tab fields
Description
Property
The row number.
No
The name of a VSM server in the domain.
Name
The state of the VSM server. Possible values:
•
Active—The VSM server is actively managing the domain.
•
Passive—The VSM server is not actively managing the domain. It is standing
by ready to become active if the current active VSM server fails. While in a
passive state, the VSM server can perform data mover tasks assigned by the
active VSM server, if enabled.
•
Absent — The VSM server is not currently recognized by your local domain.
State
The name of the domain to which the VSM server belongs.
Domain
The type of connection over which the remote VSM server is recognized by the
local VSM servers in the local domain. If the VSM server belongs to the local
domain, this is the type of connection over which the other VSM servers in the
domain recognize the VSM server. Possible values:
•
FC—The remote VSM server is recognized by the local VSM servers in the
local domain over an FC connection.
•
iSCSI—The remote VSM server is recognized by the local VSM servers in the
local domain over an iSCSI connection.
•
Mixed—The remote VSM server is recognized by local VSM servers in the
local domain over both FC and iSCSI connections.
Connection Type
The role in which the VSM server is functioning. A VSM server can perform both
management and data moving tasks. You can disable a VSM server from perform-
ing data moving tasks so that the VSM server handles management tasks exclus-
ively. In the current release of SAN Virtualization Services Platform, the only pos-
sible value is VSM, which indicates that the VSM server is running as a VSM
server. If it is the active VSM server of the domain, you can connect to it with the
VSM client and manage the SAN configuration. If it is passive, then it works as a
standby VSM server ready to become active when the current active VSM server
fails.
Role
The serial number that was assigned to the VSM server during installation. All
VSM servers that are interconnected must have unique serial numbers that range
from 1 to 8 digits.
Serial number
The version of the VSM software running on the VSM server.
Version
The management IP address of the VSM server. This is the IP address and TCP
port to which the VSM client connects. Every VSM server has a web server to
which the VSM client connects in order to manage the VSM server. The manage-
ment IP address is configured in the network tab of VSM monitor. VSM monitor is
an application that runs on the VSM server workstation..
Management IP address
The number of connections with which the VSM server is connected to the SAN
fabric.
