• Information Lifecycle Management (ILM)—As the value of data changes over time, migration enables
you to migrate virtual disks to appropriate storage pools, in terms of performance, capacity, and
availability.
The migration service can only be used within the same domain. If you need to migrate virtual disks
to storage systems managed by another domain, create an asynchronous remote mirror group and
perform the Detach operation on the group after performing a planned failover to the remote copy.

Viewing the migration groups list
The migration groups list displays all migration groups managed in the domain.
To display the migration groups list:
In the navigation tree, click the Migration Groups node. The migration groups list appears in the list
area. The following information is displayed for each migration group.

Description Property
The row number. No
The name of the migration group. Name
The name of the virtual disk or VDG being migrated. Source Name
The name of the domain to which the source element belongs, which is always
the local domain.
Source domain
The status of the migration group. Possible values:
• Normal—The group’s task is in progress
• Suspended—The group’s task is suspended.
• Deleting—The group’s task has completed and the group is in the process of
deletion.
• Failed—The group’s task encountered a failure.
Status
The percentage progress of the group’s task. Task progress
The VSM server actively handling the task. Active Data Mover
The mode of VSM server selection. Possible values:
• Any node— VSM selects the VSM server for the group’s tasks from among the
VSM servers enabled for data moving tasks on the domain. This includes VSM
servers enabled for handling data moving tasks and VSM servers operating
in Data Mover mode.
• Suggested node—The user who created the group suggested a VSM server
for handling the group’s tasks. (The actual active VSM server may not be the
suggested VSM server.)
Data Mover Mode
A free text display field. To modify the text that appears here, right-click the storage
pool and select Manage > Edit Comment. You can use this field for any purpose.
