If you would like to select a storage pool from a folder, navigate to the folder in the tree on the
left of the screen. The Select Storage Pool screen displays the list of storage pools in the selected
folder.

Select a storage pool from which you want to allocate capacity to the destination virtual disk.

Click Add. The storage pool you selected appears in the lower right area of the screen. If you
want to deselect the storage pool, select the storage pool in the lower right area, and click
Remove.

Click Next. The Select folder screen appears.

If you want to add the async mirror group to a folder, enter the folder name in the Folder field
or click Browse to browse to the folder. The folder must already be created. For information about
creating folders, see “

Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.

Click Finish. The asynch mirror group is created and the first task starts processing.
Creating asynchronous mirror groups on VDGs
To create an async mirror group on a VDG:
1.
Do one of the following:
a.
Right-click the VDG on which you want to create an async mirror group.
b.
Select Manage >Mirror Service > Create Async Mirror Group.
or:
a.
Right-click the Async Mirror Groups node.
b.
Select New > On VDG.
The Create Async Mirror Group wizard opens to the Enter Async Mirror Group parameters
screen.

In the Async Mirror Group name field, enter a name for the group.

In the Async Mirror Task name field, enter a name for the first task that will run on the group.
4.
In the Destination name field, enter a name for the destination VDG of the group’s first task.
5.
From the Data Mover mode dropdown box, select one of the following:
• Any node—Select this option to allow VSM to select the VSM server that will handle the
group’s tasks.
• Suggested node—Select this option if you want to specify a preferred VSM server to handle
the group’s tasks.

In the Required Source PiTs field, enter the number of mirror PiTs of the source VDG that should
be maintained on the group source element at any time.
7.
In the Source PiTs alert field, enter the number of PiTs above the number specified in the Required
Source PiTs field to allow before triggering an alert. If the number of mirror PiTs on the group
source element exceeds the sum of the Required Source PiTs and the Source PiTs alert values, an
alert event is sent, if VSM Service alerts are enabled.
NOTE:
To enable VSM Service alerts, select Options > General from the Tools menu, select the
Configuration tab, and check Turn on VSM Services alerts.
