•
Change preferred path (change the primary path through which virtual disks are presented to a
host)
•
Change LUN range (change the range of LUNs used by the SVSP domain to present virtual disks
through a DPM to a host)
•
Add and remove host HBAs (add HBAs to a host in situations in which the VSM cannot learn
automatically that an HBA has been added to the host and remove HBAs from a host to inform
VSM that a given HBA is no longer installed on a given host)
•
Manage host online/offline state (switch a host to offline state to attempt the recovery of a host
that is not functioning properly)
•
Delete hosts (delete hosts when they are physically absent and will not be reconnected to the do-
main)
For information about assigning VSM storage elements, such as virtual disks, snapshots, VDGs, and
VDG snapshots to hosts, see “

Supported operating systems and personalities
lists the host operating systems supported by the VSM, the situations in which each operating
system is most suitable for use by VSM, and the operating systems’ supported personalities.

OpenVMS
Working with OpenVMS
To enable SVSP to interact with a host running OpenVMS, each of the virtual disks, snapshots, and
synchronous mirror groups that are presented to that host must be assigned an OpenVMS Unit ID
(OUID).
•
Each assigned OUID is unique for the LUN to which it is assigned. The same OUID is reported
every time the LUN is presented to any host.
